cron functionality for noosfero

Hi people,

I am writing a feature for the consumption collective plugin for sending
mails on a specific date.
I would like to know if Noosfero has any feature like a cron job working
right now.
If not, what would you prefer for that?

Note that I am not thinking of building a big structure for that and I
still starting the reading on that.
