Merge AI2997 and AI2746?

Hi all,

It's great news that UNB proposed to implement AI2997. Isn't it possible 
to extend the options of AI2997 with the other two proposed in AI2746. I 
think this would not imply in much more work, and would avoid us having 
to rework on it later on.
