I've got a bit worried about this.

First, is this storing on the cookie every page visit? If so, wouldn't this make the cookie very large, maybe reaching its maximum limit and slowing http request with big headers?

Second, the concept of visit count repeated visits of a given user. See for example youtube, awstats, OWA, google analytics.
Maybe an minimum interval of time would make this reasonable.

Finally, this should get some review before merging...
