A new page is not friendly in terms of usability and accessibility.
The user expects just to download the file.

Think of a blind user being confused by being redirected to another
page and the ammount of content which would be read by the
screenreader until he founds out the size of the file.

A more accessible way to put this information would be to add it as a
description of the file. There are a few alternatives, one would be
the usual:
"filename.ext (EXE, 100Mb)",

Optionally you may use some extra description, as in the following HTML:
