I just read all the discussion now.

Considering everything people listed here (some want to exist a description
page, while other just don't want the feature to be as it is), I think it
would be a good idea to aggregate some things Caio suggested:
1. to have the file size information direct on the file (suggestion of Caio
below).
2. if the user click on the link of the file, redirect him to the view of
the file on the browser.
3. a "More details" button if the user wants to read more information about
the file, such as a description of the file and a "Download" button, to
actually download it.

@aurium, as I realized, you just want that description page to exist (I
also think that may be helpful). So, isn't it enough to have this "More
details" button?

I totally disagree that, by default, a page that ends with .ext leads to a
normal page, with text, blocks, header, footer and more things other than
the file itself. That is not "user friendly" and breaks all image links
people may use. And, for the same reasons, when you click on a link with
".ext", it should either go the view on the browser or download the file,
not go to a normal page. If someone wants to change this, no problem! But,
by default, it should act as expected. :)

I have no experience with screenreaders and what is better for blind
people, but I find it really great that you guys are considering this. :)
